History

Since 1983, Soundesign Recording Studio has been providing the best in audio production services in all areas of the industry. From sound tracks for films to record production, Soundesign works with the artist to achieve the best possible sound available. Soundesign is a studio with top quality state of the art electronics, competitive with any studio in Boston or New York. The staff of Soundesign has years of experience recording all types of music both in the studio and on location. Rock, classical, big bands, solo performers, new music bands, and jazz ensembles have all been recorded in the comfortable studios of Soundesign. Located in the Main Street Gallery in downtown Brattleboro, Vermont, Soundesign is a studio designed for the serious composer or musician.

Staff

Billy Shaw is the owner of Soundesign Recording Studio. A graduate of Rutgers University, Billy had his apprenticeship at RCA Studios in the late sixties. In the early and mid-seventies he worked as a soundman and road manger for such know people as Linda Ronstadt; Jeff Beck; Stanley Clarke; John Mclaughlin's Mahavishna Orchestra; The Brecker Brothers Band with Mike and Randy Brecker, Don Grolnick, Steve Gadd, Chris Parker, David Sanborn, Will Lee and Steve Khan. He moved to Vermont in the early seventies and continued to commute to NYC and points across the country. In 1983, he left the road and opened Soundesign Recording in Brattleboro, VT. He won a Grammy Award for his work as engineer for Ken Burns' "The Civil War Series" for PBS. Billy lives in Putney, VT with his wife Joanne and two children, Miles and Madeline.
